Meetings:

November 2011 Meeting: Bob Juengle (who plays Santa during the holiday season) modeled for the group.

October 2011 Meeting: Dan Kolkmeier demonstrated the materials and processes used in woodworking.

During our May meeting we hosted a studio session to encourage our members to create works based on still lives. We had several artists participate and we will hopefully be welcoming some new members very soon.

Images from the April Meeting:

Our scheduled April 2011 presentor, college professor Marty Linson, has been postponed after a fire broke out in his studio. He was able to contain the fire, but he's still accessing the damages.  He was very sorry, butu willing to reschedule, so I'm sure will have another chance to see his work.

Luckily for us, Shirley Nachtrieb has graciously offered to present in his stead. She'll be demonstrating a watercolor collage technique. We have a sample below.

Mary Linson presentation postponed:  He'll be demonstrating the process of creating a bronze sculpture. He's promised to bring samples and examples to demonstrate each step of the process.

February 2011 demonstrator Zack Smithey; an art teacher at Francis Howell North teaching Drawing, Sculpture, Advanced Placement Studio Art, and Introduction to Art. Additionally, he is a member of the United Scenic Artists Union and paints the shows at the Muny.

Below are a couple of samples of the two different demonstrations he will be doing using oil enamels.

Introducing Missour Landscapes at Lilian Yahn Gallery from September 9 - October 26th.  For more information click here.

Barbara Remley Martin demonstrated at our July 2010 meeting.  Her website is http://www.remleymartin.com/Site/Home.html

Final Piece

A place where artists take root and branch out!

Oak Leaf Artist Guild is a community of artists in the St. Charles area dedicated to promoting local art and artists.  Please bookmark this page and visit us often for news and events.

We host monthly meetings to motivate and inspire; and we welcome everyone to join us.  Our meetings are a great way to share experiences and common goals.  We generally have guest speakers, demonstrators or some other opportunity to learn; and because we are a diverse group we are able to encourage our members to broaden their artistic scope and try new things.

Once a month we publish and circulate a newsletter to our members, that is full of valuable information about news, events, and art opportunities in the area.  Our artists use it to promote their shows, events, classes, etc.
